A Look Inside a Stylish & Colourful Family Home in Chiswick

Projects — 29.05.20

This stunning house on one of Chiswick’s prime streets has had a complete architectural redesign and interior fit out, in line with modern-day living. As soon as you enter this London home you will find yourself immersed in a whirl of colour and creativity.

Zulufish’s brief was to extend at basement, ground and loft level, flood the house with natural light and create liveable spaces for a growing family’s needs.

From the top, a huge skylight was positioned in the centre roofline where shards of light now bathe the hallways. This addition made the property bright, bold and charmingly quirky; in a quintessentially English way.

The purist white marble-clad master suite juxtaposes black metal hardware in its double walk-in shower, bespoke twin vanity unit and whirlpool jet bath.

The hand-crafted master dressing room is also a joy, with yards of open hanging space, drawers and a central jewellery island for the keenest fashionista.

Downstairs, the ground floor formal lounge and library are separated by a double-sided fireplace flanked by floor to ceiling crittal doors. The jewel coloured velvet furniture and precious stone art pieces in the lounge bring a lot of fun into the space, and make it less serious, more interesting, and most importantly, make it personal.

The library / piano room is decorated with a bespoke bookshelf unit made by HUX London. The blending of interesting objects and colourful books on library shelving is a great way to create a space that positively breathes character, personality and life. Let the books be the main feature, as a beautiful book is timeless and elegant, and use the decorative items to bring colour and variety.

The full width family kitchen & snug is in pole position at the back of the house. Now a thoroughly modern, open-plan interior, it includes an informal snug area and dining room with a large kitchen arranged around a marble wraparound kitchen island.

Natural light pours in through minimal steel-framed sliding doors and a full width skylight, casting sunlight down onto not just smoked oak parquet floors but also a full width walk on rooflight, which in turn floods light down into the basement cinema room.

This impressive room has floor to ceiling storage and a huge L-shaped sofa with full AV surround sound system, for ideal film watching.

This stunning and colourful family home is where fun and design go hand in hand, bringing cosy and inviting spaces (perfect for a family) with a vibrant and modern style. Each corner of the home has been beautifully curated with an impeccable attention to detail.
